For the past five years, we’ve been quietly crafting one of the most meaningful releases in Overeem‘s history, a whisky inspired by exploration, endurance and the relentless pursuit of what lies beyond the horizon. Today, we’re excited to share that journey with you.

Where It All Began
Our story with renowned polar explorer Dr Geoff Wilson began in 2021.
Together, we created Dome Argus, a limited-edition whisky released in honour of Geoff’s extraordinary Antarctic expedition, the longest polar expedition in human history and a world-first achievement. Crafted using Antarctic ice melt, Dome Argus captured the imagination of whisky lovers and collectors alike, selling out almost immediately.
Today, bottles are rarely seen and have been known to command prices of up to $1,000, making Dome Argus one of Overeem‘s most sought-after releases.
It was during the launch of Dome Argus that Geoff first shared his vision for what would become Project Zero.
Together with his son, Kitale, Geoff would embark on one of the world’s most ambitious modern expeditions aboard Nanook X, a net-zero vessel built to circumnavigate the globe and cross the Arctic Circle, proving that extraordinary exploration and environmental responsibility can exist side by side.
As Geoff spoke about the journey ahead, one thought stayed with us long after the evening had ended.
How do you capture a journey like this in a whisky? That single question became the foundation of Nanook X.
Crafting the Journey
Creating a whisky worthy of Project Zero demanded more than exceptional casks, it required every element of the whisky to reflect the expedition itself.
We began with Overeem‘s signature Tasmanian Single Malt, matured in rich Barossa fortified wine casks, creating the depth, richness and complexity for which Overeem is renowned.
To honour Nanook X’s voyage into the Arctic, we then sourced used whisky casks from Aurora Spirit Distillery, the most northern distillery in the world, perched high above the Arctic Circle in Norway.
Those casks were shipped to Tasmania, where the whisky underwent a second maturation, allowing the character of the Arctic to become part of its story.
To complete the journey, we once again brought the whisky to its final bottling strength using a combination of Tasmanian Water & Antarctic ice melt, a tribute to Geoff’s record-breaking Dome Argus expedition and the collaboration that first brought us together in 2021.
The result is a whisky unlike any we’ve created before.
Influenced by the warmth of the Barossa, shaped by Arctic casks, and crafted in Tasmania, Nanook X is a whisky inspired by both ends of the Earth.
